Applied Physical Sciences (APS) is looking for Senior Engineers/Scientists with master’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of structural mechanics, structural design, shock analysis and testing to support research, development, engineering and design efforts, focusing on naval ship structures and systems. Successful candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas: steel and composite structures design and analysis, finite element analysis (ABAQUS, NASTRAN, LS-DYNA), underwater shock analysis (USA / DYNA), programming and use of hydrocodes such as CTH for ballistic and blast modeling, analytical analysis methods, shock testing and analysis methods.  Candidates also must have significant experience in developing, planning and executing large R&D and design projects for Navy and other DOD/DOE customers, management of personnel and resources, and detailed knowledge of the US Navy’s structural design, analysis and qualification processes for both steel and composite structures.
