At APS, engineers and scientists apply an interdisciplinary approach to the optimization of sensing and control systems for effective development of signal and information processing software.  APS designers apply their physical understanding of signal generation, propagation physics and transducer technology to design appropriate signal processing to optimize sensor system performance in detection, localization and classification of acoustic, hydrodynamic, electro-magnetic and radio-frequency observables.

APS designs and develops processing algorithms for radar, sonar, non-acoustic hydrodynamic and electro-magnetic sensors to detect, identify, locate and track stealthy targets in challenging noise and clutter environments.
