Digital and Analog Acoustic Communications
APS has designed, fabricated and demonstrated an enhanced Underwater Loudhailer (eLoud ™) for the Technology Support Working Group. eLoud allows for voiced or prerecorded messages to be transmitted at moderately high power underwater to warn and deter divers before they approach sensitive installations. We have matured eLoud through a series of demonstrations and performance evaluations and will soon be delivering 120 units to the US Coast Guard, with the primary application being port security.
APS is also developing wideband, directional transducers for digital spread spectrum underwater acoustic communications.
