Senior Systems Engineer
Applied Physical Sciences, Corp. (APS) is seeking a highly motivated engineer with expertise in designing sensor systems, preferably with a focus on radar or radio frequency (RF) systems. Successful candidates will have a BS or more advanced degree in electrical engineering or applied physics and at least 5 years experience with excellent project leadership skills. Experience in several of the following areas is desirable: RF systems, electronics, modeling and simulation of sensor systems, applied physics and mathematics, hands-on prototyping and development, and extensive field testing.
The position will involve leading a small team of engineers in the development of an advanced radar system for a US Navy application. Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience developing RF sensor systems, embedded hardware/software, analog and digital circuitry, power amplifiers, basic electromagnetics (antenna theory and propagation), and radar signal processing algorithms. Hands-on prototyping, extensive field-testing, and at-sea experience are highly desirable.
The successful applicant will have skills in designing and building RF systems, testing those systems, and conducting data analysis and reporting. This position will involve working closely with senior staff on complex problems and in the development of the overall system of systems. Proficiency in algorithm development and computational modeling in MATLAB, C++ and/or FORTRAN is desired.
Design, build, and test specialized radar and associated electronic systems.
Assist in the formulation of new algorithms and numerical models to simulate the performance of complex systems.
Apply numerical methods to support design analyses.
BS/MS/PhD in electrical engineering or applied mathematics/physics
Highly proficient in MATLAB and supporting programming environments
Experience in developing and building prototype systems
Willing and able to travel and conduct at-sea testing
